Creative Victoria is the state government body dedicated to championing, growing and supporting Victoria's creative industries. Creative Victoria wanted a short video telling the story of the strength of Victoria’s contemporary music sector, why we are a music hub and a national music leader.
They wanted to explore our music history and represent today’s music sector, to display Victoria’s many strengths and to instil pride in Victorian music within the music sector, and the broader public, while engendering a sense of connection to Victorian music for all viewers.
The video was intended for use on social media platforms, and screening at the Music Cities Convention, a global annual event that was held in Melbourne in 2018.
DOTF and their sister company Speaker TV have been heavily involved in the Victorian music scene for over a decade - so, DOTF handling production of this video was a perfect fit.
We proposed the idea of utilising projections of iconic Victorian musicians, and moments in Victorian music history on iconic buildings and locations in Melbourne and Victoria.
The video was created using footage from our substantial archives of festivals and gigs in Victoria, as well as new footage from the Australian Music Vault, an intimate house party with a band playing, and more.
We created a video that tells a dramatic, engaging and exciting story of a robust Victorian musical history, from the grassroots artists to the global influencers.
